Classification - What it is
Wetas are part of the grasshopper and cricket species. They’ve been around for over one hundred ninety million years. They’ve been around since the dinosaurs! There are 70 species of Weta and some weta species are huge.
Description - What it has and looks like
A regular sized weta is the size of three small mice and have antennas two times bigger than their body. When a weta loses their antennas then they can just grow them back. Wetas have ears on their front legs so they move around to hear stuff around them.
Location / Habitat
Wetas can be found in caves and forests. Some people breed wetas and sail them to islands to increase the population of Weta. Some wetas live in grasslands and shrubs.
Dynamics - What it can do
Wetas shed their skin ten times a year They lay 6 eggs at a time and can lay up to 300 of them. Here's a question for you Weta learners. Would you want a Weta as a pet?
